Samsara Blues Experiment – Live at Rockpalast
(Electric Magic Records, 2013)
More than 170 shows in less than 5 years have been captured within this “SBE – Live at Rockpalast“, the record which consecretes Samsara Blues Experiment as one of the best live band around at these times. Recorded on the 24th of October 2012 this live album sounds really good to my ears and show me the band in its entire intensity. If you have never seen SBE live, this record may help you understanding what means playing heavy psichedelic blues with a unique style that melts effective Stoner riffing with Jammy blues rock. Hard to find comparison because SBE have built through years a personal, peculiar and non derivative sound that reminds me etherogeneous influences that goes from Blue Cheer to Kyuss, from Budgie to Cathedral, without overlooking the important progprint that emerges from the beat section, calling to mind the cream of Kraut Rock, Khan above all.
This record features also a studio alternate version of Singata Mystic Queen – one of SBE’s forte – where Clem Alford meets Causa Sui and the result is massive. Only one thing: I would have kept the volume of the mic recording the crowd a little higher!!!
